We, Carlotta and Fini, are the initiators of the project “Rowing Forest” and are both committed to climate protection, also outside of sports. As the national rowing team, we want to join the great Sports for Future movement with the Sport4Trees campaign to motivate others for awareness and commitment to climate protection in sports and beyond. M<\/span>otivation<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>

\u00a0<\/p>

Reforestation projects alone\u00a0 will not fix the climate crisis! <\/strong>. This requires a transformation of society. Our goal is to use the “Rowing Forest” to draw attention<\/strong> to the climate crisis.<\/p>

As a society, we need to rethink<\/strong> at all levels, including in sports – or especially in sports. As the national rowing team, we have an enormously high carbon footprint – partly due to regular air travel<\/strong>\u00a0to international competitions and training camps. In the 2021 Olympic season, many rowers’ flights alone will exceed the German average of 10 tons of CO2 emissions. The round-trip flight to the Olympic Games in Tokyo alone emits around 6 tons of CO2.<\/p>

We therefore want to make a contribution to reducing the impact of the high greenhouse gas emissions caused by our flights. Therefore, we want to donate money to the Chepalungu Forest reforestation project in Kenya<\/strong> to bind greenhouse gases. We are aware that we cannot compensate for the great ecological damage caused by our flights with the donations, but we want to live up to our function as role models <\/strong>as competitive athletes and use our reach to motivate fellow human beings to stand up for the preservation of a planet worth living on.<\/p>

Concept<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>

The rowing forest is being created in the Chepalungu Forest reforestation project in Kenya<\/strong> and is organized by WWF<\/strong>. The donations come from us, the rowers of the national rowing team. Everyone donates voluntarily and at their own choice. We also want to invite other rowers, sports fans and interested people to donate as well! Sports for Future will double every donation!<\/strong> As the national rowing team, we hope to raise many donations going towards the reforestation project.<\/p>

Donations to the non-profit organization Sports for Future are tax deductible and go directly to the project on site (up to a donation amount of 200\u20ac a bank transfer receipt is sufficient as a donation receipt).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
